MOSTYN ESTATES' COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

The Estate is involved in a wider range of community activities than might be expected. Here is a very brief summary

NORTH WALES POLICE BIKE SQUAD

Four Llandudno police officers with their bikes from left to right, Chris Perkins, Mike Smith, Sue Nash (Manager of the Victoria Centre), Gary Donnelly and Sarah Curry.

Police cycling teams are now "normal practice" in over half the country and are a proven method of combating street crime. Bikes enable officers to cover more ground and be seen by a large number of people.

Mostyn Estates has jointly funded the bikes’ safety equipment, along with the Victoria Centre , Halfords, Parc Llandudno and Conwy Community Safety Partnership.

LLANDUDNO IN BLOOM

The Estate has supported and actively participated in providing hanging baskets and flower beds in Llandudno. LLANDUDNO WON WALES IN BLOOM 2006 AND 2007. Llandudno was entered in Britain in Bloom and won Silver Gilt 2007 for outstanding floral displays.

LLANDUDNO SAILING CLUB

We sponsor youth sailing and the National Championships held in Llandudno Bay.

NORTH WALES POLICE MOUNTED UNIT

The Estate has sponsored a horse to provide an alternative form of policing in a user friendly way.

Her name is Rhiannon, an Irish Draught Sport horse. She came from Ireland last year and lives with the other horses at Erddig Hall in Wrexham.

LLANDUDNO CRICKET CLUB

We sponsor the Club's Junior Cricket Teams and Seniors League. This has provided many new young players for the first and second teams. Llandudno Cricket Club won the North Wales Cricket League in 2005 and 2007.

LLANDUDNO MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL

This is sponsored by MEL including the Youth Choir Competition and Young Musicians of the Year.

CELTIC WINTER FAYRE

Held in November each year to give an opportunity to local and regional producers and traders to sell their goods. Dates this year are 18th - 22nd November 2009.

This was started by the Estate in conjunction with local business and the Llandudno Development Partnership, which includes public and private sectors.

The Fayre's purpose is not to make money in itself, but to provide an event for local people and visitors, and to help boost the town's economy further.

CARRIAGE RIDING

For several years the Estate has hosted the event at Mostyn Hall in aid of the NSPCC. This year it took place in early June and was a great success

MISSION HOUSE

Near Llandudno, this is a young people’s meeting place.

LLANDUDNO TRANSPORT FESTIVAL

Held over May Bank Holiday weekend each year. This is supported by the Estate and is now said to be the third largest festival of its type in the U.K. with over 1,000 exhibits.

VICTORIAN EXTRAVAGANZA

Also held over the May Bank Holiday each year, in the town centre. We have supported this for the last 20 Years.

CHARITY FUNDRAISING

Estate staff regularly participate in fund raising events for St. David's Hospice, St. Kentigern Hospice, Ty Gobaith Children's Hospice and many other causes.

LLANDUDNO YOUTH MUSIC THEATRE

The Theatre produces superb musicals and Mostyn Estates Limited is pleased to support developing talent.

CONWY RIVER FESTIVAL

We sponsor a race series for the very popular week long sailing and cruising event each year.
